The violence seems to have returned to the Jammu and Kashmir with terrorists targetting at least 2 BJP party leaders this time in the valley taking the tally to 5 since the abrogation of article 370 by the Centre.

According to a local video journalist, a BJP sarpanch of Quazigund block in Kulgam Sajjad Ahmad Khanday was shot dead by armed militants a few yards away from his residence this morning while another BJP leader and district vice president Arif Mohd was shot dead in Bandipore yesterday. This is the second attack in 48 years in the valley which is celebrating the completion of one year of abrogation of article 370.

It may be recalled, militants shot dead the BJP Bandipore district chief Sheikh Waseem Bari, his father Bashir Ahmed and brother Umer Bashir near their residence last month.

The police said a new terror group – The Resistance Front – said to be a front of the Jaish, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen had claimed responsibility for the attack.

The BJP party chief JP Nadda tweeted: “This is a huge loss for the party. My deepest condolences are with the family. The entire Party stands with the bereaved family. I assure that their sacrifice will not go in vain.”
