21 Indian Navy personnel test positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai

More than 20 sailors of the Indian Navy were tested positive for coronavirus at INS Angre in Mumbai, according to the Indian Navy.

In a statement issued here today, the authorities revealed that the men are belonging to a shore-based logistics and admin support establishment under Western Naval command. All the infected personnel were admitted to naval hospital INHS Asvini in Mumbai’s Colaba.


“All primary contacts (though asymptomatic) were tested for COVID-19. The entire in-living block was immediately put under quarantine, containment zone & INS Angre under lockdown. Action being taken as per established protocol. No cases of infection onboard ships & submarines have been reported,” the Indian Navy said.
