The President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Capt. N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday said that the assurance given by Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao of giving 29% fitment to employees was bogus.
Addressing the party workers and leaders through Zoom Video conference and Facebook live on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy cautioned the employees against falling into yet another trap by CM KCR. He said that the Chief Minister did not Interim Relief even after three years of the formation of the Pay Revision Commission and took no action even a month after the submission of the PRC report. However, in view of elections, he held a secret meeting with union leaders and leaked information that 29% fitment would be announced after the MLC elections. He said that the employees should get a minimum of 43% fitment. But if they trust KCR and vote for TRS in MLC elections, then they would not get even 29% fitment once the elections are over.
Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence that the Congress candidates Sabavath Ramulu Naik and G Chinna Reddy would get elected as MLCs from the Graduates’ constituencies of Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda and Hyderabad-Rangareddy- Mahabubnagar respectively with a comfortable majority.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party has aggressively campaigned for the MLC elections and exposed the failures of TRS and BJP Governments. He said both TRS and BJP sensed a humiliating defeat in the MLC polls in advance and out of frustration their leaders started exposing each other’s failures despite the fact that both are secret allies since 2014.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao understood that TRS would lose from both the constituencies. Consequently, he took refuge behind the same unions, associations and NGOs whom he never gave importance to in the last seven years. He said Minister K Tarakarama Rao and other TRS leaders literally begged before the union leaders seeking their support while making tall promises. However, he said to expect a few union leaders, all other sections including employees, pensioners, jobless youth, doctors, advocates, journalists, women, Girijans, Dalits, minorities, BCs, etc., to have assured their support to the Congress candidates.
“CM KCR has now realised that he has lost his face value and people will not trust him again. Therefore, he used the picture of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, a leader who lived and died as a Congressman, to beg for votes. The advertisement published by TRS today’s newspaper with a picture of Narasimha Rao is a victory of the Congress party,” he said.
Similarly, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the BJP could not face voters due to its guilt for neglecting Telangana for the last seven years. BJP Govt at the Centre did not honour any of the promises made with Telangana in the AP Reorganisation Act including Railway Coach Factory at Kazipet, Bayyaram Steel Plant, AIIMS at Bibinagar and a Tribal University. The BJP Govt also shelved the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR), sanctioned by previous Congress-led UPA Govt to create more than 50 lakh jobs in Hyderabad and neighbouring districts. Modi Govt did not grant any funds to Telangana and remained a mute spectator to the economic crimes committed by TRS Govt which pushed Telangana into a huge debt trap,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy questioned the ‘Ram Bhakti’ of BJP leaders who talk only about Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He said BJP leaders were silent over encroachments over thousands of acres of land belonging to Ram Temple in Bhadrachalam. He said that BJP’s Hindutva card would not work in Telangana as people have realised that the saffron party incites communal feelings for political gains.
The TPCC Chief appealed to the graduates to ensure 100% polling by voting in favour of Congress candidates. He said TRS and BJP Govts could not be pressured to fulfill their promises until they are defeated in the MLC polls.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the KCR Govt has been cheating the people since 2014. He said TRS Govt never implemented the promises it made during elections. But CM KCR, Minister KTR and other leaders keep making fresh promises in every election. Citing instances, he said TRS had promised in 2018 elections that it would provide an unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,016 every month to jobless youth. The promises remained unfulfilled even after two-and-a-half years. Similarly, he said that CM KCR had promised in GHMC elections that all flood victims would be paid Rs. 10,000 each. The promise was forgotten immediately after the elections.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Ramulu Naik, the candidate from Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduate constituency, had played an active role in Telangana statehood movement. He said no party had ever nominated a Dalit or Tribal as its candidate from graduates’ constituency. But this time, the Congress party nominated Tribal leader Ramulu Naik, for social justice. He said Ramulu Naik had resigned from TRS and also quit MLC post to protect his self-respect. Therefore, it is the duty of all graduates to send such a gentleman to the Council as their representative.
Similarly, he said Chinna Reddy, the candidate from Hyderabad-Rangareddy- Mahabubnagar constituency, is known for his honesty, integrity and clean record. He had served as a minister and got elected as MLA for four terms. He holds a PhD in Agriculture and well versed with the problems of graduates and other sections of the society in Telangana.
Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to the party cadre to ensure 100% polling in their areas in favour of Congress candidates
