At least 4 Tractors were seized along with Teak wood load besides a Carpenter wood cutting Machine during a cordon and search operation following an attack by the village on a forest officer in Bhukya Thanda and Hanuman Thandas in Armoor division of Nizamabad district today.
According to the details available, large number of nearly 100 policemen along with forest staff raided thandas this morning following an attack by the villagers on the forest beat officer of Karepally Smt K Manjulatha on April 25. She was reportedly assaulted by the villagers when she attempted to raid their village to seize the teak-wood stored illegally.
A complaint to this effect was lodged with the Bhimgal police who along with District Forest Officer, Nizamabad Dr Sunil S. Hiremath, Commissioner of Police, Nizamabad Kartikeyan and Superintendent of Excise, Nizamabad Naveen Chandra devised a plan for conducting a cordon search operation. The police also seized over 5 litres of illicitly distilled liquor in the village and cases were registered against 15 persons for various offences including the attack on the Forest officer.
