At least 8 people have been arrested in connection with the cow slaughter in a Poultry farm in Siddipet today.

The arrests came following agitation by VHP, Bajarang Dal and BJP activists who tried to attack the poultry farm on Friday where the alleged slaughter of 18 cows have taken place. The activists could return only after the assurance given by the police officers to taken action against the culprits.

All those arrested were remanded to judicial custody by the magistrate. The arrested include Mohd Zubair, Mohd Khaja, Mohd Saddam, Mohd Arafat, Mohd Ibrahim, Mohd Harshad, Mohd Araf, and Mohd Javid.

Police said the culprits used to take advantage of the loopholes in the Anti-Cow Slaughter Laws in different states. For example, they import cows from West Bengal, Kerala, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura where there is no laws to prevent cow-slaughter while Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Odisha and Tamil Nadu allows cow slaughter only for sick animals. Under the garb of sick animals, the accused gang members bring cows from outside and slaughter them here.

Referring to this provision, the lone BJP MLA Raja Singh criticised the TRS government for not implementing the carpet ban in Telangana on the lines of Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab wherein Cow-Slaughter is totally banned.
