In yet another move on Saturday, the Andhra Pradesh police arrested the former TDP MLA from Tadipatri in Ananthapuram district JC Prabhakar Reddy in connection with the illegal registration of 154 vehicles.
According to the RTA officials, Prabhakar Reddy was picked up from the Shamshabad airport along with son Asmit Reddy early this morning. It was found that JC had indulged in several malpractices with regard to the running of 154 buses such as running buses on fake number plates, duplicate number plates, besides fake insurance policy etc. The authorities have found at least 71 BS3 vehicles out of 154 buses were registered as BS4 vehicles with fake registrations and insurance policies.
Off late, he had sold these vehicles to various people in Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Nagaland. Recently, the buyers have also staged a dharna in front of his residence for cheating them. Earlier during the united AP regime, JC Prabhakar Reddy was also accused in physically attacking the Commissioner of Road Transport Authority (RTA) for seizing his vehicles which were found running on one single number plate.
The AP cops have seized at least 95 vehicles till date after cancelling their registrations and another 5 buses needed to be seized, they announced adding that the whereabouts of remaining buses are yet to be traced.
