The Hyderabad Cycling Group (HCG) has conducted an ‘Adventure Ride’ in the Lalgadi Malakpet forest block near Shamirpet today.
The 25-km ride was organised by the Telangana State Forest Development Corporation (TSFDC) as part of its Urban Forest Development programme taken up in the Lalgadi Malakpet forest block. Over 80 young cyclists have taken part in the adventure ride.
The TSFDC has taken up the forest block protection measures like fencing, forest restoration like gap planting and Yadadri Model plantation with native forest species, SMC works, weed removal etc. The TSFDC has also proposed to develop a prestigious “Konda Gorre Rewilding project” In collaboration with Chitrak organisation that develops Nature trails, Jogging & Cycling park, Fruit forest & Green cafes, Grassland development, tall plant nursery, Demonstration of Sustainable practices such as Rainwater harvesting, Zero waste lifestyles, low carbon footprints, Organic farming, yoga and Ayurveda. The park will be available for public usage shortly.
The officials who participated in the programme include VC&MD, TSFDC P Raghuveer, Founder of Taruni Organisation Dr P Mamatha, HCG (Hyderabad Cycling Group) Ravinder, Anand Vishwanathan & Smt. Soumya from Chitrak organisation, Divisional Managers, Rangareddy Division, TSFDC Marri Laxma Reddy and K Shireesha, and Plantation Manager, Shameerpet Range T Rajender Kumar.
