Advocate couple waylaid and killed near Manthani

An advocate couple identified as Gattu Vaman Rao and Gattu Nagamani was brutally stabbed to death by unidentifed persons after waylaying their car on the Ramagundem-Hyderabad highway today.


The Ramagundem Commissioner of Police Satyanarayana revealed that the victims were on their to Hyderabad in their from Manthani. Their car was stopped by unidentified persons at Kalvacherla, 16 kms from Ramagiri Police station in Peddapalli district, and the culprits dragged Vaman Rao from his car and stabbed him and left him on the road only to be bled shouting for help while Nagamani was also left in the car with stab injuries.

The CP said the incident occurred around 2.30 pm and passersby informed 108. But they died before reaching the hospital. He said 6 special teams had been formed to trace the culprits and heavy combing operation was launched in this connection.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the couple was going to Hyderabad to attend a case pertaining to their complaint seeking protection as they alleged threat to their life. They have been fighting a lock-up death case of Sheelam Rangaiah in which City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar was appointed as the Investigating Officer.

Telangana Bar Council has severely condemned the murder and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused in the case.
