Akhila Priya arrested for kidnap of 3 brothers in city, Kotwal warns land mafia

Telangana police today took into custody the former Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader from Allagadda in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh Bhuma Akhila Priya in connection with the kidnap of 3 brothers yesterday.

Revealing the case details here, the City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said a case of kidnap under different section of IPC has been registered against Akhila Priya and her husband Bharaga Ram as Accused Number 2 and 3, respectively besides AV Subba Reddy as A-1. Whereas, Subba Reddy and her husband Bharagava Ram were at large along with others including Srinivas Chowdary, Sai, Chanti, and Prakash.

Narrating the crime, Anjani Kumar said the accused had a dispute with the victims Naveen Rao brothers over a piece of land in Hafizpet in the city. In order to settle the score with them, Akhila Priya masterminded the kidnap. The accused have arrived at the residence of Naveen Rao in Bowinpalli area with a fake search warrant claiming to be the Income Tax authorities. They first locked up women and children of the house in a room and forcibly took away Naveen Rao and his two brothers Praveen Rao and Sunil Rao.

They later let them off in Kokapet area early this morning around 3.30 am. Earlier, police were alerted by one Manish and launched a massive manhunt for the kidnappers with 15 teams pressing into the search operation. Police said with the help of CC TV footage, they could trace them out. The info provided by the victims established the role of Akhila Priya and two of her other partners in this.

However, the TS police picked Akhila Priya in Nandyal and brought her to the city today. She was sent to medical examination to Gandhi hospital before producing her in front of the magistrate only to be remanded.

Anjani Kumar said hunt is on for the remaining accused and they will also be caught soon and warned all those land mafia and those with criminal background of severe action if they involve in any such illegal activities in Telangana.
