AP BJP opposes quarantine centre at Annavaram, alleges malintention

The President of Andhra Pradesh unit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kanna Laxminaryana took serious exception at the YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s government decision to convert the Devotees’ Shelter Homes on the sacred hill of Annavaram temple in East Godavari district.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney, Laxminarayana alleged that the government is taking such decisions deliberately with a view to hurt the sentiments of the people in this hour of crisis. He questioned as to why there is no better place than Annavaram temple for setting up a quarantine centre.

He also pointed out to its earlier controversial decision of converting Padmavathi Kalyana Mandapam in Tirumala into quarantine centre that ultimately led to a controversy. He wanted the government to withdraw the decision immediately and instruct all district collectors to chose a place other than temples and temples’ properties to set up quarantine centre.
