Andhra Pradesh Police said to have made progress in identifying the prime accused in the Vijayawada gang war episode in which a rowdy-sheeter Sandeep succumbed to his injuries in hospital recently.

According to reliable sources, the prime accused said to be the owner of a tractor showroom in Penamalur, Naga Babu. He said to have played a key role in arranging a meeting between the warring builders Sridhar and Pradeep Reddy. The Guntur based history-sheeter Pandu understood to have represented Pradeep Reddy while Sandeep represented Sridhar. Nagababu brought Sandeep into the picture as both were partners in cards game.

The land in which they assembled said to belong to a person known to Sandeep and Nagababu. However, on a fateful day, Pandu arrived early at the site followed by Sandeep who had entered into an argument. Both groups indulged in pushing each other after Sandeep said to have held Pandu’s collar that led to the attack.

The cops also suspect that Pandu’s mother believed to have asked him to kill Sandeep as the latter went to her house with his bunch of followers. Pandu’s mother had strategically obtained a medical certificate in advance saying that Pandu had been suffering from mental illness. There seems to be an old enmity between the duo. Further investigation is on as police are preparing to frame charge sheet.
