AP govt attempts to serve notices to Amaravati farmers amidst lockdown

In what can be called as an attempt to be more loyal than the king, the officials of the famed CRDA (Capital Regional Development Authority) have exhibited their loyalty towards the ruling YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh by attempting to issue court notices to the agitating farmers of Amaravathi region during the lockdown on Wednesday.

According to the details available, the CRDA officials have reached the Thullur village panchayat office only to serve notices on to the farmers for refusing to give away their lands to enable the state government to distribute the same to the landless poor. However, the attempt boomeranged on them after the host of farmers trooped into the Panchayat office and questioned the authorities about their intention to issue court notices especially when the lockdown is in vogue.

“How do you expect us to come to the court at this juncture”, they questioned them. Unable to answer their queries, the officials have no other option but to make a hasty retreat.

It may be recalled the farmers of Amaravathi region have moved to the court earlier against the CRDA’s decision to distribute their lands to the landless poor following Jagan Reddy’s government decision after it shifted the capital to Vizag.
