Andhra Pradesh High Court stayed the CID probe into the alleged Amaravathi land scam against the former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his former cabinet colleague Narayana.
The court issued 4 weeks stay today after convincing with the arguments by senior lawyer Siddarth Luthra and Dammalapati Srinivas representing Chandrababu and Narayana respectively. They pleaded the court not to allow CID to proceed either with the arrest or with further investigations in the case as it was a politically motivated case in order to harass opposition leaders.
Moreover, the CID authorities when asked to provide primary evidence could not submit to the court saying they couldn’t reveal anything at this moment as the case is still at the initial stage. “If the court permits for the full-fledged inquiry, the details may come out”, said the counsel for CID. Not convinced with the response, the court issued the stay orders.
