AP to call for Visakha Metro Rail Project Tenders in November

Andhra Pradesh State government is all set to go in for the tender process to construct the Metro Rail Project in Visakhapatnam as part of its development programme.


Announcing to this effect today after inaugurating the AP Metro Rail Project Office here today, the Minister for AP Municipal Administration Botsa Satyanarayana said that the notification to this effect will be issued in November calling for bids from the developers and contractors. The entire tender process including the awarding of contract would be completed by March 2021. “The project is being taken up as part of the decentralisation program of our government and we are here to study the same only to submit the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Chief Minister for approval”, he declared.

He along with the Tourism Minister Avanthi Srinivas and MP MVV Satyanarayana watched the presentation film on the proposed Metrol Rail Project in Visakhapatnam. THe district Collector Vinay Chand, Metrol Rail Managing Director NP Ramakrishna Reddy, Commissioners of VMRDA and GVMC Koteswar Rao, MLAs Tippala Nagir Reddy and Adeep Raj took part in the meeting.

The Minister further said that a master plan has been devised to build a modern Tram corridor upto 60 kms out of 79.91 kms total Light Metro Rail Corridor. UMTC onsultants have been appointed to prepare 2 seperate DPRs for both Metro and Tram corridors which will be submitted one in November second week and another in December second week, respectively.

He further revealed that after a details study, the experts have recommended to build 52 railway stations in 4 corridors of total 75.31 kms. “Proposals have been prepared for 4 corridors including Steel Plant-Kommadi Junction, Gurudwara-Old Post Office, Tadichetla Palem-Chinna Waltair, Kommadi Junction-Bogapuram airport”, he said.
