AP will allow only those willing for a 14-day quarantine: Perni Nani


The Andhra Prades Information Minister Perni Nani announced that whoever willing to go to quarantine centres before going home will be allowed to enter the state from neighbouring states.

He was revealing the cabinet decisions taken at its meeting during a media meet here in Vijayawada today, Minister said the Media which is playing a vital role in reaching the people in this hour of crisis should avoid playing off and finding fault with the state government with regard to the Ponduru episode wherein the stone-pelting incident reported last night.

He said: “It’s not fair to blame the state government for not allowing people forcibly entering the state from Telangana. This is not in the interest of the state because if one person proves to be carrying the virus. It would prove disastrous for all of us. In this backdrop, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has decided not to allow any individual into the state unless they agree to be in quarantine centre for 14 days. There is no comprise on this”, he declared.

He said AP has so far registered 11 corona positive cases including 3 from Vizag and another 3 from Viajanagaram and the rest are from other places. He said over 27,000 are staying in AP after their return from foreign trips.

The government has already set up 100-bedded medical wards in each assembly constituency exclusively treat Corona afflicted patients. It is also setting up 200-bedded hospital in every district besides 4 exclusive Corona hospitals at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Nellore and Tirupathi with ultra-modern world-class technical facilities.

In addition to this, over 52,000 N-95 masks are ready, besides 4000 head to toe body masks and over 10 lakh gloves and masks have been kept ready for doctors and paramedical staff treating the patients, he declared.

He also declared that a special contingent fund of over Rs2000 crore has been kept ready for the disbursement of the Collectors to fight the Coronavirus.
