Members of the Gomaatha Seva Trust demanded the Government of Andhra Pradesh to appoint persons with a Go Samrakshan background as the Members of Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) Board instead of persons with a political background.
Addressing a media conference here at Press Club Hyderabad today, the members of the trust Gopala Krishna, Raj Kumar and Mohd Shareefuddin expressed concern over the growing physical attacks in the name of Go Rakshan in the country and stressed the need to create awareness among people about the importance of Cow and its utility in the society in order to curtail these attacks.
Gopala Krishna, the founder member of the trust said if the Board appoints persons dedicated to the cause of Go Samrakshan as its members, it will help create awareness among people about the Go Samrakshan that will ultimately bring down the attacks in the name of Go Rakshan.
Another Trust member Mohd Shareefuddin made it clear that there should be a multi-pronged strategy to curtail these attacks on Dalits and minorities by creating awareness in the society about the importance of cow and its usages while stating that he had grown up by consuming cow milk and holds high regards for it and advocates its protection. He also reminded that first Mogul emperor Babar had banned the cow slaughter in the country 500-years ago.
“It was mentioned in Babur Nama and was implemented strictly. But unfortunately, the Britishers during their tenure had resorted to Cow Slaughters. When resisted, they encouraged Dalits and Minorities to take up the slaughtering job. The result is before us”, charged Shareefuddin adding that “they can be weaned away from this by creating awareness among them about the utilities of Cow”.
Gopala Krishna further said since the cow has several utility values, the TTD could as well take up its protection, promotion and propagation on a large scale that every section of the people in the society could well be aware of its value besides churning high incomes even from its urine and excreta.
