The expected poll results of the GHMC begin to trickle out with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) giving a dent to the traditional vote bank of the ruling TRS that won at least 54 seats till 7 pm today as against its expected 105 seats while its political friend MIM retaining 40 seats.

However, the counting is still on and it takes a few more hours for the final results to come. Meanwhile, the jubilant TRS and BJP workers celebrated their victory in front of their party offices amidst firecrackers, drum beats and dances. The leaders as usual sitting in Television studios interpreting the results as per their convenience and to best to their advantage in their own inimitable ways.

Reacting on this, BJP chief Bandi Sanjay expressed happiness at the outcome saying ‘Saffronisation has begun’. “The mandate has proved that BJP is the only alternative to TRS and the mandate is against the KCR’s style of functioning”, he remarked adding that this would pave way for the BJP to come to power in 2023 elections in the state.

He also announced that he would dedicate this victory to the State Election Commissioner and the Director General of Police for what he said striving their best for the victory of TRS by not responding to BJP’s several complaints against TRS excesses in the GHMC elections.

Meanwhile, TRS has not so far reacted on this except for few leaders like Jeevan Reddy taking on the BJP for not performing well in GHMC as against their vow of unfurling BJP flag on Golconda fort. The TRS Bhavan which was brimming with heavy activity with activists flooding the Bhavan wore a dim look by evening.

Congress, however, is nowhere in the sight. Hardly, it could retain 2 seats in this battle making them nervous. The TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that he would make a key announcement soon in this regard. It is expected that he would resign to its party post for the second term in succession after the general elections in the state.
