Bollywood actor Sushant Singh commits suicide, PM condoles death

The Bollywood actor and hero of MS Dhoni Biopic Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in Mumbai this morning.

The news of his death was first informed to the police by his servant maid. It may be a coincidence that Sushant’s former manager Diya Salia also died after committing suicide four days ago. Police are investigating the case to establish the motive behind the act. The body has been sent for postmortem.

Started as a TV artist in Hindi serial Kis Desh Me Hai Mera Dil on Star Plus, and Zee TV’s Pavithra Rishta and successfully entered the Bollywood as a hero with his debut film Kai Po Che! in 2013. He later went on to act in a supporting role in Ameer Khan’s PK film in 2014 and as a hero in Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! in 2015. He later received Film Fare Award for his role in former TeamIndia captain’s Biopic, MS Dhoni – The Untold Story. His performance in his last film, Lover Boy received accolades from various quarters.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep condolences at the sudden demise of actor Sushant Singh. In a tweet here today PM said Sushant Singh Rajput…a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away.
