The much-talked-about Rs100-Crore Buddha Vanam project is all set to be completed in the next 15 days, announced the Minister for Tourism V Srinivas Goud.
He was conducting a review meeting on the progress of the Buddha Vanam project at his chambers today which is slated to come up at Nagarjuna Sagar. The state government has taken it up as a prestigious project wherein the history, heritage, tradition, the culture will be depicted in various forms and formats.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Goud announced that they would visit the Buddha Vanam project once and update the CM KCR with developments over the project. He thanked the Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao for reviving the history of those unsung and forgotten legends of Telangana who have been totally neglected during the united Andhra ruling. “Plans are also afoot to revive their history especially of poets, writers, literary personalities etc”, he declared adding that an eco-friendly tourist resort, adventure sports, boating, food court facilities will also be created at the site besides an archaeological museum etc.
As part of it, CM has also allocated funds for the development of historical Buddist places like Phanigiri, Dhulikatta, Buddha Vanam. “We have also asked the AP Govt to hand over the historical remnants, heritage structures and idols excavated in Phanigiri and Nagarjuna Sagar”, he said.
Those participated in the view include Project Special Officer Mallepalli Laxmaiah, Tourism Secretary K Ramesh, Tourism Corporation MD Manohar, Archeology and Buddha Vanam officials Narayana, Sujatha etc.
