New Delhi: The ongoing agitations opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has turned violent on Sunday in New Delhi with pro-CAA and anti-CAA groups pelting stones at each other forcing cops to fire teargas shells to quell the mob.

According to our correspondent in Delhi, trouble began when the pro-CAA rally entered into the Maujpur locality near Jaffrabad where the anti-CAA agitation was already underway. Both groups indulged in stone-pelting forcing the cops to fire tear gas shells to disperse the mob.

The additional police force including paramilitary force has been rushed to the Maujpur. Initial reports said that the trouble broke as the agitators from both sides outnumbered the police force present there leading to the anarchy. Agitators went berserk.

The situation is said to be volatile in Maujpur area. Several demonstrators have been injured due to stone-pelting. Here is a video which presents Chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ heard from the site of the incident.
