Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba complimented the Telangana state for managing the Covid pandemic well and maintaining low case fatality compared with the national average.
He was holding a video conference with Chief Secretaries of twelve states along with the Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal today. He inquired about the steps taken by the various states in containing the spread of the virus.
Ramping up the number of Covid tests and making testing facilities available in a large number of locations across the state such as Primary Health Centres, Urban Health Centres and Basthi Dawa khana in the state was also appreciated by the Cabinet Secretary.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar informed that the government is closely watching the situation and fully geared up to handle the pandemic, even as the number of positive cases has started declining.
Explaining the various measures taken by the state government Chief Secretary said that testing has been ramped up in the state. RT-CPR testing is being done on every person who is found symptomatic under rapid antigen test. The government has formulated a strategy to make all beds equipped with oxygen facilities. Special focus is being laid on managing the situation in the districts, he added.
Secretary Health and Family Welfare Rizvi, Director of Drugs Control Dr Preeti Meena and other health officials attended the conference.
