Care Hospital organises Walkathon on World Kidney Day today


“By pledging to donate your organs today, we are doing a great service towards humanity and saving not one but many lives”, says the film actress Archana Shastry.

Speaking after flagging off a walkathon organized by the Care hospitals to mark the World Kidney Day to create awareness on organ donation here at People’s Plaza today, Archana said kidney disease has become the 3rd biggest killer, after Cancer, Cardiac disease and Diabetes. “At least 6 chronic kidney patients die out of 10 every day due to unavailability of cadaver donors”, she said.

The Coordinator Jeevandan (Cadaver Transplantation Programme) Government of Telangana, Dr G Swarna Latha thanked the CARE Hospital for coming forward to create awareness on the chronic problem and urged people to pledge to donate their organs liberally.

Over 1500 people participated in the organ donation awareness program. Noted Nephrologists Dr.Vikranth Reddy, Dr.Srikanth, Dr.Santosh, and Urologist Dr.P.Vamshi Krishna, Dr.B.V.Rama Raju, People from all walks of life, including senior doctors of CARE Hospitals, nursing students, school children, corporate employees and city health enthusiasts were among those who participated in the program.
