The petitioner Mamidi Venu Madhav while expressing his concern over the death of Sumedha has claimed that the collective negligence of all those right from Corporator to the Commissioner of GHMC including MLA, MP, Local Circle Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Zonal Commissioner and the Commissioner of GHMC has claimed the life of Sumedha. He also pointed out that such incidents keep repeating and as and when such incidents occur the above ‘responsible people’ do some halchal and later forget about rectification measures.

The petitioner claimed that such incidents are taking place in the absence of covers to the open nalas in every village, panchayat, municipality, and corporations in cities. He sought directions to the state government to immediately take up the closing of open nalas to avoid recurrence of such incidents and sought directions to the state government to announce a compensation of Rs. One Crore to the Sumedha family.
