Central team visits flood-hit areas in the old city today

The Central Team led by the Joint Secretary of the Finance Ministry Praveen Vasist  RB Kaul has visited several submerged areas in the Falaknuma area of the old city today on the first day of its visit to the flood-hit areas.


The other members of the team include K Manoharan from the Agriculture Ministry and S.K Kushawaha from the Road Transport & Highways Ministry visited Falaknuma ROB, Al-Jubail Colony, Ghazi Millat Colony, Kandikal gate Main road, Hafeez Baba Nagar and other flood-affected areas. The GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Chief Engineer Ziauddin has accompanied the Central team members.

The team inspected the damaged ROB at Chandrayagutta, restoration works of ROB and removal of Debris from Nala and interacted with the flood-affected people. People informed them about their woes due to floods. The waters have reached up to the first floor and the entire locality is still marooned due to water stagnation for 10 days and a result of which their houses might face a threat of collapse.

The GHMC officials informed that the water from Pally Cheruvu flows under ROB its width is 7 meters, with the heavy rains and increase in flood water the Palley Cheruvu got breached and flood water entered in Al-Jubail colony and Ghazi Millat  Colony other areas. The central team inspected the damages to properties, household articles and Vehicles. Further, the team inspected roads and Drains which were severely damaged.  

They later visited Kandikal gate inspected restoration works in nala and at pool bagh, Chandrayan gutta interacted with flood-affected victims. They also visited the submerged localities under Palle Cheruvu (Tank), Gurram Cheruvu (Tank) and Balapur Tanks. They inspected collapsed compound walls, damaged furniture and household items. The GHMC officials informed that by deploying 171 JCBs, 627 Tractors, 30 Tippers, the debris and the silt which were piled up to 2 to 3 meters height has been cleared.

A photo exhibition was also organised on the occasion to appraise the visiting central team about the gravity of the situation
