Centre announces Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Rajinikanth

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar today announced the legendary southern cine star Rajanikanth as the recipient of the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award.


Announcing the award in New Delhi today, the Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said the award for 2019 will be conferred on Rajinikanth at the National Film Awards ceremony to be held in May on 3rd, 2021, in New Delhi. The choice was unanimously made by the members of the Jury, which the Government accepted. The jury consisted of five members including Ms Asha Bhosle, Mohanlal, Biswajit Chatterjee, Shankar Mahadevan, and Subhash Ghai.

the Minister said that he is an iconic actor who has ruled the hearts of Indians for over fifty years. The Minister congratulated the legendary actor on the achievement.


Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao hailed southern film Tamil Superstar Rajanikanth on being selected for the prestigious and highest film award in the country, the Dada Saheb Phalke award.

The CM said Rajanikanth, who evolved a unique style of his own in the film career for decades, has crores of fans in the country and all over the globe and it is great and befitting that he is selected for the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award. The CM conveyed his congratulations to the superstar.
