Chandigarh Press Club has started a community kitchen from today to serve 800 people every day during the lockdown period. Chandigarh has been categorised as Red Zone and the lockdown too has been extended till May 17.
The club has prepared dinner for 800 people on Tuesday and the menu was Veg-Biryani and Aloo-Nutri. The distribution of the food was done by the Chandigarh Administration and today’s distribution area was pockets surrounding Sector 11, Khuda Ali Sher, and Sector 15.
The club has tied up with Multi-National Company Godfrey Phillips for the community kitchen and they will meet the expense of all the raw material, including cooking gas.
Meanwhile, the elections to the Press Club Executive Committee scheduled to be held on May 20 has been postponed till further orders. “We will hold our next meeting on May 20 and decide accordingly,” said the Returning Officer Sanjiv Shukla.
