City observes ‘Lighting-a-Lamp’ program with fervour

Amidst sounds of bombs and a spectacular view of crackers, the people, especially in Hyderabad, have responded to the call by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi by observing 9-minute ‘Lighting-a-Lamp’ in darkness programme to wean away dreaded Coronavirus.

It was definitely a Diwali with a difference today with people bursting crackers, shouting slogans such as ‘Bharath Mata ki Jai’ reverberated the streets in this 500-year-old historical city.

Even the Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday night lighted a lamp at Pragathi Bhavan as a symbol representing the united fight put on by the entire country against the spread of Coronavirus.

In tune with the appeal given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM lighted the lamp at 9 PM for 9 minutes. He held the lighted candle and extended his unity with those fighting against the Coronavirus.

Along with the CM, Medical and Health Minister Etela Rajender, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP M Mahender Reddy, Rajya Sabha Member J Santosh Kumar, Vice Chairman, State Planning Commission, B Vinod Kumar, State Farmers Coordination Committee Chairman Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, CM’s Principal Secretaries S Narsing Rao, Ramakrishna Rao, Ms Shanta Kumari, Advocate General BS Prasad, Additional Advocate General Ramchander Rao and others participated.
