Nizamabad: Government of Telangana have launched prestigious Gram Jyothi programme to strengthen the Gram Panchayats in the state so that they can deliver better civic services to the people. To improve the overall cleanliness and sanitation in the villages, it has been decided to provide Dumping Yard to all the Gram Panchayats in the state and also provide Tri-cycles for transportation of the garbage.
Tri-cycles are provided @ 1 per 1000 population as per the 2011 census. The rate contract has been finalised and 10 suppliers were identified for supply of the Tri-cycles. In fulfilment of the promise made during the Gram Jyothi Programme Chief Minister has launched the distribution of Tri-cycles to Gram Panchayats in Nizamabad District on today. 170 tri-cycles have been distributed to 64 Gram Panchayats. A total of 2038 tricycles will be distributed to 718 Gram Panchayats in Nizamabad District. It is proposed to supply 23,000 Tri-cycles in the state in a phased manner with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 42.00 crores of Rs. 42.00 crores.
