Telangana State government has formed a committee to look into the complaints of fleecing Covid patients by the Private hospitals, announced the Minister for Health Etela Rajender.

Addressing the media after interacting with Corona patients in the newly inaugurated TIMS (Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences) hospital in Gachibowli today, Etela Rajender appealed to the people to rely on the Government hospitals as it would hardly cost them Rs 10,000. “Why do people go to a private hospital and pay huge sums. Trust the government doctors. They serve better than anybody”, he said.

The Minister created a history of sorts by personally interacting with each of the Covid positive patients undergoing treatment in TIMS hospital despite the threat of afflicting the virus. He went to every ward including ICU unit and interacted with almost every patient enquiring about the services and the kind of treatment their getting there. He also asked them whether they are satisfied with the facilities and services at TIMS to which most of them expressed positively.

He also instructed the hospital superintendent Dr Vimala Thomas and the Director of Public Health Dr Ramesh Reddy to ensure no complaint should receive either denial of admission to any patient or lack of service or facilities especially the availability of oxygen cylinders. He wanted them to maintain adequate stock of oxygen cylinders as it is crucial in saving the Corona patient.

While appreciating the efforts of the frontline warriors like doctors, nurses in serving the covid patients in this hour of crisis, the Minister asked them to win the public confidence thereby enhance the image of the government hospital.
