COVID cases show a downward trend with 18 cases reporting in TS

The Covid19 positive cases have taken a slight dip today with only 18 cases reporting indicating a healthy sign, said the Minister for Health Etela Rajender.

Briefing the media here today, Etela said that out of 665 samples only 18 cases tested positive totalling to 471. Out of this 385 are belonging to Markaz returnees. Had this Markaz episode not there, our state would have been peaceful by this time except for few stray cases here and there, he opined.

Among these 471, 45 have been discharged and 12 have died. As of today, we have only 414. We are awaiting the test reports of those who have joined around March 23-25 their quarantine period of 14 days would be completed by April 9. If we get negative reports before that, I am hopeful that at least 60 to 70 people are likely to be discharged, he declared.

He also announced that except for one person no other case is on ventilator till date. Hence, hopefully, we will not have any cases after April 22 as present patients in waiting will be discharged by that time.

However, he cautioned that it cannot be underestimated as the issue would survive some more time to come. Hence, we need to be extra cautious about maintaining social distance without fail.
