The public outcry against the sensational rape and murder of veterinary doctor ‘Disha’ in Shamshabad was evident with the cross-section of people taking out candle rallies, dharnas, burning of effigies of the culprits demanding to hang them in public not only in Hyderabad but across the country.
The Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal went on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar this morning demanding death penalty for convicts in rape cases within 6 months. According to ANI report, she was later shifted to Rajghat later.
Meanwhile, back home in Hyderabad, the students of National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) paid their homage to Disha by organisation massive candlelight rally in their campus today. They shouted slogans demanding ‘Justice for Disha’.
Large scale students and teaching faculty participated in the rally. They later submitted a memorandum to the Director of NITHM Chinnam Reddy seeking to recommend government for setting up a fast track court only to ensure stringent punishment to the culprits of Disha.
