DPH cancels Deccan hospital Covid registration for excess billing


The Government of Telangana has finally acted on several complaints of fleecing of Covid patients by private hospitals and revoked the permission granted to the Deccan Hospital in Somajiguda to treat the Corona patients.

According to the orders issued here today, the Director of Medical and Health made it clear that in view of several complaints received from the public about excessive billing to treat Covid patients by not complying to the GO No.248 and 281 issued on June 15, 2020, fixing the price structure for treating the Corona patients.

Upon inquiry, it was found that the said hospital had deviated from the guidelines and the ceiling given in the GO while charging the Corona patients. Thereby initiating measure to cancel the permission granted to it for treating the patients with Coronavirus henceforth as per the Public Health Act 1897 and Telangana Allopathic Private Medical Care Establishment (Registration & Regulation) Act 2002.

The order further said the patients who are already admitted in the hospital shall be treated until the time of recovery and charged as per the government orders. Failure to comply with the instructions of the government shall lead to cancellation of the hospital registration in total, the GO said.
