DRDO builds Covid hospital in New Delhi in record 12 days time


The country’s premier Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has set up the country’s largest Covid-19 care centre in the national capital, Delhi. 

The 1000-bedded temporary Covid hospital has been built by the Hyderabad-based DRDO in just 12 days in the national capital due to increasing cases of coronavirus in the capital and was named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Covid Hospital which is fully equipped with facilities for patients like medical oxygen gas, PPE kits, ventilators, covid testing facility and other lab tests.

This hospital will be operated by a medical team of doctors, nurses and support staff from the Armed Forces Medical Services, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and other Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has also decided to name different wards after the Indian Army soldiers who made supreme sacrifice during the face-off between Indian Army and Chinese Army in Galwan valley on June 15. The hospital ICU and Ventilator Ward in the hospital has been named after Col B Santosh Babu.
