In what can be called as a political blow to the ruling TRS party, the State Election Commission (SEC) today stopped the registration and distribution of flood relief currently underway in the city till the GHMC elections are over.
In its order issued here today, Secretary SEC Ashok Kumar ordered the Principle Secretary Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) to stop forthwith the process of registration and distribution of flood relief as it is likely to influence the voters in the GHMC elections.
This has come as a rude shock to the ruling TRS party which has blamed the BJP for the decision as the BJP leaders met the EC and complained against the flood relief being carried out by the state government. Pointing out to this effect by none other than the CM and the Party President KCR who appealed to his leaders to expose the BJP in this regard.
“The BJP’s conspiracy needs to be exposed as it has not helped the state with a single penny. Instead, complained to the EC and ensured to stop the flood relief. Now the voters will give them a fitting reply in the elections”, he remarked.
It may be recalled that Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao called upon those whose houses have been inundated in the recent floods and did not get the relief of Rs 10,000 announced by his government to register themselves at the Mee Seva Centres.
No sooner the announcement came, people have lined up at all Mee Seva Centres and there was galore of complaints pouring in about not getting relief even after they registered for the same. Even, this news portal too has received few complaints which have been forwarded to the concerned authorities for redressal.
