Fani cyclone likely to hit coast in next 12 hours

A severe Cyclonic Storm called ‘Fani’ is brewing in the southeast Bay of Bengal currently centered at 1300 kms from southeast of Chennai coast in Tamilnadu and 1100 kms southeast Machilipatnam coast. It may likely to intensify into major cyclone in the next 12 hours to come, according to weather scientists here.

They predicted that as a result light to moderate rainfall at many places is expected with heavy rain falls at isolated places in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala on Sunday. The wind will blow at 100 kms speed per hour in far off places and 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph is likely to commence off Tamilnadu and Puducherry coast, Comorin and Gulf of Mannar.

The fishermen are advised against going into the sea as sea conditions are very rough along and off Puducherry, Tamilnadu off Sri Lanka coasts and south Andhra Pradesh Coasts from April 29. The authorities have also appealed to those fishermen who are already out in deep sea to return to the coast immediately.
