FIR against Mulla of Markaz Masjid for violating Lockdown protocol

The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered the registration of an FIR against a Maulana of Markaz in connection with Tabligh-e-Jamaat congregation in West Nizamuddin in South Delhi after several people who attended it tested Covid Positive.

The issue attracted the international attention forcing the World Health Organisation (WHO) to send its teams to New Delhi. Most of them have been shifted to various hospitals by the cops under the supervision of Joint CP DC Srivastava.

The Police cordoned off entire Nizamuddin area by placing barricades and are monitoring the movement of people through drones. Efforts are on to disinfect the area. According to reports, the cops have launched a house-to-house mapping exercise in two nearby colonies on Tuesday to check for coronavirus cases.

Issuing a statement, the Delhi government said: “It looks like social distancing and quarantine protocols were not practised here by the authorities and as a result, several cases of Covid positive were found here. The irresponsibility of the Masjid Management is very clear as over 2,000 Muslim delegates, including from Indonesia and Malaysia, attended the Tabligh-e-Jamaat congregation in Nizamuddin West from March 1-15. Strong action will be initiated against the responsible”.

So far 163 people have been admitted to Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital in New Delhi while 500 others have already left for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
