Former Minister Kamatham Ram Reddy passes away


Former minister Kamatam Ram Reddy passed away today in a private hospital while undergoing treatment for his old age related health issues.


He is 83 and represented Parigi constituency in RR district for thrice as an MLA. He was first elected as an independent candidate in 1967 and later as Congress candidate in 1972 and 1989. He later joined the BJP in 2014 after he was denied ticket by Congress. However, he later shifted to TRS party in 2018 but was not active in politics. He served as the minister of Civil Supplies and Revenue in the cabinets of Janardhan Reddy and Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy regime.

His body has been taken to his native village Mahamudabad near Mahabubnagar today. Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao has mourned the death of former Minister Kamatham Ram Reddy. Recalling his association with him, CM conveyed his condolences to members of the bereaved family.

CM also instructed the officials to conduct his last rites with official honours.


Earlier, Congress leader Dr Mallu Ravi payed his respects to the former Congress leader late Kamatam Ram Reddy. He paid a visit to the hospital and laid a wreath on his body and consoled the family members. He said death of Ram reddy is a great loss to Telangana. “He is a symbol of value based politics. My deepest condolences to the family members and may his soul rest in peace”, he said.
