GHMC feeds 1.56 lakh in one single day through 342 Annapurna canteens

GHMC has turned messiah for thousands of denizens ever since lockdown begins in the city by providing them with free food every day on a regular basis with the help of donors, NGOs and other philanthropists. The numbers have swollen to a record 1,56,350 persons in one single today.

Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has been monitoring regularly the distribution of food through Annapurna canteens and essential items given by the donors. GHMC has been doing this through its 342 Annapurna canteens as per the instructions of CM KCR that no one should go hungry in the state.

In addition to this, temporary canteens have also been arranged during lockdown through which food was distributed to 1,56,350 on Monday alone totalling to an overall figure of 41,48,000 till date. 692 donors arranged 6,44,300 food packets out of 10,94,200 distributed to the needy so far through GHMC mobile vehicles.

The Monitoring wing received and distributed to the needy the items including Rice about 520 metric tons, 2,864 ration kits, 60,000 biscuits and cakes, 4,500 litres of oil, 2500 litres of floor cleaner, 3,100 gloves, 33,000 masks, 4,500kgs wheat flour, 5,600 oats packets,1,364 PPE Kits, 5,550 Sanitizer bottles, 7,500 litres of Sanitizer cans, and 30 metric tons of watermelon fruits given by the donors.
