GHMC to procure 6 more Floating Trash Collectors: Aravind Kumar

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to order for 6 more floating trash collectors in order to remove Water hyacinth accumulated in various tanks.

Informing after launching the floating trash machine to clear the water hyacinth in Durgam Cheruvu tank here on Sunday, Principal Secretary Municipal Administration Aravind Kumar said that they have decided to place orders for 6 more floating trash collector machines, in addition, to already existing 7 machines besides he said, GHMC is preparing a year-long plan for utilising each machine on turnkey basis. These machines were acquired in 2017 and used them in cleaning Chandan Lake in Jillela Guda, Rampalli lake, Nagaram Annarayuni lake, and Dammaiguda lake last year.

Similarly, cleaning of Mallanna Kunta lake, Ameenpur lake, Isukanari lake, Korremula, Tellakunta lake, Pasumamula lake would be taken up in the next 2 months as per schedule. However, he said each machine with a normal capacity would cost Rs 1 crore while the 5-ton machine is worth Rs 1.50 crore each.

He also formally launched Anti-Larva Firofin Oil Spraying to contain mosquito breeding with the help of drones as part of anti-larva programme. “This has proved effective in containing the mosquito breeding”, he said adding that 6 such drones have been procured for 6 zones each at a cost of Rs 60 lakh.

The GHMC Zonal Commissioner Harichandan, HMDA Chief Engineer BLN Reddy, GHMC Lakes SE S Bheem Kumar and others were among those who accompanied the secretary.
