Gold shop burglar arrested, stolen property worth 39.15 lakh recovered

In yet another major achievement, the City Police have arrested a gold shop burglar within 24-hours and recovered the stolen property including the Rs50,000 cash all worth Rs 39,14,904


Revealing the details here at a media conference today, the Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar said the burglar was traced within 24-hours with the help of CC TV footage. He appreciated the team efforts of the Monda Market police in this regard. “It was made possible because the CCTV footage was installed in the shop that helped us trace the accused and appealed to all the Jewellery merchants to install CC TVs in their respective establishments without fail.

He said the burglar was identified as a 28-year-old temporary driver of a GHMC Garbage vehicle Mohammad Aadil of Chacha Nehru in Bansilalpet and also worked as a driver on the vehicle of the Jewellery shop owner.

He hatched a plan to commit theft of gold jewellery from the shop. On the intervening night of January 14 and 15, he entered into the jewellery shop of the complainant by climbing through the pipes, went to the 3rd floor, removed the grill, entered into the shop, went to the ground floor, broke open the wooden draw with the help of a screwdriver and committed theft of customer’s mortgaged Gold weighing about 1009.60 grams, silver weighing about 209 grams and 50,000 cash total valued Rs. 39,14,904/-and concealed the same in a garbage bin near his residence.

He was apprehended by the Special teams and the entire stolen property has been recovered. He is being produced in the Court for judicial remand, said, Commissioner adding that the accused has a history of committing two-wheeler theft in the past with the Market Police Station.

His father Mohammed Maqbool was an RTC Driver, expired in the year 2013. He is the 3rd issue to his parents. He discontinued his studied after studying 10th Class. Initially, he was involved in following offences as a Boy Juvenile in Conflict with Law in Market Police Station limits in the year 2011.

Later in June 2018, he was arrested in Cr.No.261/2018 u/s 379 IPC of Saifabad PS for committing theft of a Generator. He was released on bail in the same month. A suspected sheet has been opened against him on November 10, 2018.
