Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao have conveyed their greetings on the occasion of International Women’s Day today.
The governor on this occasion said, “I extend my heartiest wishes and greetings to all the women of Telangana State. Our heritage, culture, and traditions for centuries respect and honour women and worship them as the personification of Goddess “Shakti”.
It is high time that we truly imbibe and implement the spirit of gender equality and promote women in decision-making in all spheres of life for a more equitable, and inclusive world, she said.
International Women’s Day is an occasion to celebrate and emulate the success of women in different walks of life. From family care to nation-building, women are always omnipotent. “I salute the spirit of sacrifice and bravery shown by women as caregivers and frontline warriors during the Covid-19 pandemic”, said Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan adding that, “Let us all resolve and work for the all-round development of women and gender equality in the true spirit of the International Women’s Day-2021 theme- “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao also conveyed his greetings to women in the State on the occasion of World Women’s Day. The CM said women play a key role in the development as they are competing with men in all the fields and are excelling.
Women, who constitute 50 per cent of the population, would do wonders if they were given a chance, the CM said adding that the State government is taking a slew of measures to take women on the path of development and progress. They include setting up of the SHE teams, pensions for the old age women, single woman and widows, schemes like Shadi Mubarak and Kalyan Laxmi, KCR Kits, increase in salaries of ASHA workers, Anganwadi teachers and there are several schemes and programs launched to empower women. The CM said Telangana state is at the forefront as far as women’s welfare is concerned.
On the occasion of World Women’s Day on March 8, 2021, the state government has declared a holiday for all women employees in the state and the CM instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to issue orders in this regard.
