Governor exhorts youth to innovate and excel

Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Wednesday exhorted the youth to innovate and excel in science and technology.

Our country had a glorious history in science and technology and it is again on a definite path to regain its glory. This is the time to come up with indigenous technologies to offer solutions to problems faced by humanity,” she added.

Participating as the chief guest at the 9th Graduation Ceremony of the Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology, Chennai, on a virtual model, she stated that Indian researchers are at the forefront of fighting the global pandemic.

“Every crisis offers some opportunity and we need to innovate and rise to the occasion to contribute and serve the country,” Dr Tamilisai added.

Stating that it was a new experience to participate as the chief guest at the Virtual Graduation Day ceremony, where more than 450 students were given degrees from Anna University, the Governor said that virtual is now a big reality and it has become a new normal.

She pointed out that India’s higher education is the third-largest in the world and is next only to China and the USA. However, she added that quality must be the key concern in higher educational institutions.

Exhorting the students not to fear about the failure, the Governor told them that not taking any risk is the biggest risk that one takes. ‘The country is endowed with the highest youth population in the world and they are precious resources. Harnessing and best utilizing the human resources will pave way for the country’s progress.”

Dr Tamilisai told the graduating candidates that life depends upon on the chances that you take and the choices that you make. Venture into the future that holds so many challenges and promises and she added that knowing the unknown is the key in research.

In order to realise the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making the country a vibrant knowledge society and thus a global knowledge superpower, the Governor wanted the youth to rededicate themselves to serve the country with passion in whatever the field they work.
