Governor, KCR to launch Amruth Mahotsav for 75 days on March 12

Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to celebrate Azadi Ki Amruth Mahotstav, in a big way as the nationwide celebrations were planned by the Centre to mark the 75 years of the country’s independence, all over the State.

Instructing to this effect to the officials soon after the video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi here today, Chief Minister said that the Telangana region has played a unique role in the then freedom movement led by Mahatma Gandhi. Under the present self-rule, the Telangana state is making rapid strides in development and the state has a major partnership now in the country’s progress. The PM wanted the state government to organise programmes for 75 weeks to infuse patriotism among the people.

The CM announced an amount of Rs 25 Crore for the celebrations to take place from March 12 to Aug 15, 2021, for 75 weeks. Advisor (Cultural Affairs) KV Ramanachary will be Chairman of the Celebrations Committee, General Administration Department, Finance, Cultural Affairs, Municipal Administration, Panchayat Raj, Education Secretaries, Director Municipal Administration, Panchayat Raj Commissioner will be the Members while member Secretary would be the Cultural Affairs Director. The CM asked Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to issue orders in this regard.

As part of the celebrations, the inaugural programmes would be held simultaneously at Public Gardens in Hyderabad and Police Grounds in Warangal on March 12. CM KCR will chair the inaugural function at Hyderabad while Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan will chair the programme in Warangal while CM would attend as Chief Guest.

The CM said on the occasion that the National flag would be hoisted followed by the police march-past and releasing of the Balloons in the air. The Covid guidelines will be followed strictly, said CM KCR adding that the tributes will be paid for the freedom fighters and martyrs. On the occasion of the 75th independence celebrations, like in Sanjeevaiah Park, national flag would be unfurled at 75 important locations in the State and throughout which the patriotic fervour should be depicted.

The CM also wanted essay writing competitions, debates, elocutions, drawing competitions, poets gatherings and other such programmes should also be conducted all over the state on the occasion.
