Governor’s video conference inspires JNTUH faculty on Environment Day


Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan today interacted with the functionaries of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH) through video conference in lush green Raj Bhavan Lawns befitting to the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’ and to create awareness among people about their responsibilities towards protection of nature and the mother earth.


Governor motivated the University functionaries that COVID pandemic cannot demoralize us, and to be optimistic and see opportunity in every difficulty. By conducting the videoconference outdoor lawns, Governor demonstrated how the small changes can help the environment, reducing the electricity consumption etc.

The Registrar explained through PPT, the academic and administrative activities of the University, various initiatives were undertaken to improve quality access, revision of curriculum in consultation with the stakeholders, career guidance and counselling to the students, bilateral agreements, Joint Research Programs with National and International Universities, Institutions, best practices and initiatives, the introduction of new courses, keeping the latest developments in science and technology and needs of the Industry, the conduct of examinations, etc.

The Director, J-HUB apprised the Governor as to how the total product cycle is taken care and also explained about the innovative labs and the startups. The university functionaries brought to the notice of the Hon’ble Governor about the pending land transfer issue from the Housing Board and vacant faculty positions.

The Governor also assured that the issues relating to the University will be taken up positively with the Government, and see that they are effectively addressed to. Governor also assured that the problems being faced by the University can be sent to her by email. Raj Bhavan and Telangana State Council of Higher Education will prepare progress card of every State University, and a blueprint, after interacting with all the State Universities.

The Governor advised the JNTUH Functionaries to –

(i) make utilize the very big resource of University Alumni by creating a database and getting connected with the Alumni in an organized manner by reaching each one of them and to give a clarion call to the pride Alumni to support younger generation coming from the parent University;

(ii) see that unreached student of online classes also move forward with the help of reached students; 

(iii) prepare an action plan to deal with the post-COVID-19 situation for maintaining social distancing, and hygiene in hostels;

(iv) improve online classes, online internal assessment and online viva-voce;

(v) make aware of the students the method of online examinations; 

(vi) explore the possibility of an online library;

(vii) handhold the affiliated colleges for improvement in quality education and for increasing employment opportunities to the students;

(viii) start new courses keeping the balancing the  demand and supply in the Industry; and

(ix) conduct Yoga Day on Just 21st
