The High Court today permitted the RTC unions to conduct a Public Meeting tomorrow at Saroornagar grounds from 3 pm to 6 pm.
The Court hearing the petition filed by the union leaders allowed them to hold the meeting after they brought to its notice that the police had denied permission to their proposed meeting.
Meanwhile, the court had also postponed the hearing of the RTC case to Friday seeking further information on the dues to be paid to the RTC by the GHMC. The CJ while hearing the case expressed his displeasure over the counter filed by the government on the details of dues to be paid by the government RTC. The CJ remarked at one stage that bureaucrats are trying to hide the facts without furnishing the complete details and said they seem to be preconceived and questioned the AG as to why the RTC MD has not attended the court till date?
He wanted all the details about the RTC dues pending with the GHMC and a firm commitment from the government whether they would pay the Rs 47 crore to the RTC with immediate effect to which the AG expressed government’s inability to pay that amount. The court immediately asked him ‘when the government can spend Rs 100 for Huzurnagar constituency what made it decide not to pay Rs 47 crore to RTC?’.
To a plea from the government counsel that the strike be declared as illegal, the CJ retorted saying it cannot give such kind of orders to the employees.
