Heavy rainfall warning for Telangana in next 5 days

Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning very likely to occur at isolated places over TS, predicted the Met department today.

Heavy to very heavy rains are very likely to occur today and tomorrow at isolated places in the districts Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Jagtiyal, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Jayshankar Bhupalpalli, Mulugu, Warangal, Mahabubabad and Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts in north Telangana.

The rains are said to be due to the influence of the cyclonic circulation over NE Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood. Low pressure has formed over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood at 0530 hrs IST today 19thAug2020 and it intensified into a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area over NW Bay of Bengal. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is very likely to move westwards gradually and concentrate into a Depression during next 24 hours.

The east-west shear zone now runs roughly along Lat. 21°N across central India between 3.6 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. As a result of which a fresh Low-Pressure Area is likely to develop over Northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around August 23. Under the impact, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places over TS, the Met department said.
