Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali threatened to sue the Eenadu Telugu daily newspaper with Rs 1000 crore for what he called damaging the reputation of entire Telangana force through an article titled ‘Dhongalatho Dosthi’ published on its front page this morning.
Coming down heavily on the Eenadu management for publishing the article, he accused them of conspiring against Telangana with malafide intentions. He said the contents of the news item are absolutely false and far from the truth.
All the members of Telangana Police have condemned this news item unequivocally. The Newspaper shall either prove the Wholesale allegations made therein or face the legal consequences, he said. This false news has adversely affected the morale and motivation of 80 thousand odd police officers working 16-hours a day in the department, thereby causing untold misery and agony despite all the sacrifices they do in the interest of safety and security of People of Telangana.
Telangana State Police is working in transparent manner in terms of appointments/posting of police officers and it is being done purely based on the performance/integrity and other professional attributes. Timely disciplinary actions are being taken against erring police officers when they fail to discharge their legitimate duties in the public interest. The deviant acts of isolated Individual police officers cannot be generalised for painting the entire police force with dirt and filth.
The HM further said that Telangana State Police stood as number one in the country in maintaining L&O. “Today’s false news is very unfortunate and it degrades the state reputation and bringing down the morale of the entire police force”, he added.
