India will lead the world in overcoming Covidvirus: WHO


The Wolrd Health Organisation (WHO) has praised the efforts of India in fighting the Covidvirus. The Executive Director of WHO Dr Michael J Ryan while sharing his view expressed the confidence that it would lead the world in overcoming the Covidvirus like it had led the world in the case of eradicating smallpox and polio.

“India has tremendous capacities to deal with this epidemic. India must lead the way in dealing with this epidemic as it did with the aggressive targeting & eradication of smallpox and polio,” Dr Ryan said.

He further said: “India like China is hugely populated and future of COVID-19 to a greater extent will be determined by what happens in densely populated large countries. It is really important that India continues to take aggressive action at the public health level.” 

“India led the world in eradicating two silent killers – Small Pox and Polio. India has tremendous capacities, all countries have tremendous capacities when communities and civil societies are mobilized,” Dr Michael J Ryan said
