Indian Airlines plane crash-landed at Khozikode airport, 2 pilots killed

In what can be called as a major disaster, Indian airlines aeroplane bound to Calicut crash-landed at Khozikode airport a few minutes from now. The plane was carrying 191 passengers including 11 crew members were arriving from Dubai as part of Vandematharam mission.

Airport officials announced that the place skidded from the run carrying 191 passengers way while landing. The impact was so heavy that the plane got broke into two pieces. The pilot and co-pilot said to have been killed besides 3 others. Further details are yet to be awaited.


Kerala CM Pinnarai Ravi informed that rescue operations are on as more than 20 ambulances have been rushed beside fire engines already stationed at the airport are engaged in putting out the fire.


The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a statement: Air India Express AXB1344, B737 Dubai to Calicut, the person on board 191, visibility 2000 meter, heavy rain, after landing Runway 10, continue running to the end of the runway and fall down in the valley and broke down in two pieces.

According to the local reports, it was heavily raining at the time of the accident. The plane skidded off the runway and fell into a 35 feet deep slope and broke into two pieces.
