Centre seems to have finally woke up to the flood of complaints against corporate loot by private hospitals during the Covid pandemic by initiating an inquiry into these complaints especially against 3 leading private hospitals in Hyderabad.
According to the reliable sources, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has ordered an inquiry into the spate of complaints of excessive billings by Yashoda, Care and Medicover hospitals based in Hyderabad.
It may be recalled, several private hospitals have been exploiting Covid patients despite several complaints of fleecing them forcing the state government to cancel covid treatment permission to 2 hospitals Virinchi and Deccan hospitals recently. The government has also set up a WhatsApp number to receive the complaints of excess billing which had in fact received more than 1200 complaints till date indicating the prevailing grave situation in this regard. But undeterred by all these developments, they continued to fleece Covid patients.
